Making their Christmas more significant

Local organization teams up with the Vice Mayor's Office once more

CEBU CITY (December 16, 2009) - Now in its fourth year, the Kasadya sa Plaza Sugbo, a joint project collaboration by the Vice Mayor’s Office of the Cebu City Government and Junior Chamber International Cebu-Mactan Channel, celebrated the Yuletide Season with a one week event of fun and entertainment for the nearby Barangays of the Cebu City Hall spread out from December 16-21, 2009.

Previously being done at the Plaza Independencia, which is now undergoing a massive reconstruction, the project was relocated to the sprawling Plaza Sugbo of the Cebu City Hall grounds.  Kick starting the event on its first night was a band explosion which was formally opened by 2009 JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel President Emi Rose S. Remoroza-Parcon.

Nightly Performers included JM Gabison, Dance with me Kris, God Save Us, Ginkazee, Upstage, and the Center for Pop Music Philippines with special participation of the Shepherd’s Heart Calvary Chapel.

Highlights of the event included the “Pinaskuhan sa Kabataan” and the “Kasadya sa Plaza Sugbo Hip-Hop Dance Competition” hosted by Radio Mindanao Network Cebu- DYHP and sponsored by Unilab Philippines, maker of Loperamide Diatabs last December 20, 2009.  On the same day, the project also doled out bundles of joy to about 1000 children and adults courtesy of Shemberg Philippines and M. Lhuillier.  2010 JCI Central Davao President Dino Ferdinand Galido, who was being hosted by his batchmate, 2010 Cebu-Mactan Channel President Marlon Ariel L. Polinar, was in Cebu City and also participated in the gift giving.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama was present on hand during the Opening Night and the “Pinaskuhan sa Kabataan” gift giving event.  This is not the first time that the Vice Mayor’s office and the local organization collaborated for a project and has somewhat become a yearly tradition for both parties during the holiday season.  Vice Mayor Rama has been a constant partner with JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel since it received its charter in the year 2006.

The Kasadya sa Plaza Sugbo 2009 was officially closed on December 21, 2009 by President Marlon and Kasadya sa Plaza Sugbo 2009 Project Chairman and BRIDGES Editor-in-Chief, Karlo Angelo ‘Kimo’ Cea.  During the course of the project, many new and veteran members of JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel pitched in their effort to make the holiday season a bit more special for the less than privileged members of the community surrounding the Cebu City Hall.
